The Advocate General of the Court of Justice gives a boost to the implementation process by claiming that Spanish actions against the EU Regulations on the unitary patent protection must be dismissed.
At the seventh meeting (held in Brussels on 4 November 2014) the Member States reported on the national ratification processes. It does indeed look promising since many member states reported that they hope to be able to ratify in the course of 2015.
The expert panel of the Preparatory Committee met for the first time in London on the 26 September. Discussions were held and advice was provided on topics covering training of candidate judges, draft rules on legal aid and how the entering into operation of the court should be organised.
The Legal Group of the Preparatory Committee has completed its examination of the 16th draft of the UPC Rules of Procedure – which the Expert Group had finished at the end of January 2014 – presenting the resulting 17th draft at the end of October.
