New CMS Release: automated opt-outs via A2A API Automated opt-outs submission via A2A API now available We are delighted to announce the new version of the Case Management System (CMS), which introduces a unified set of Application-to-Application (A2A) APIs. These endpoints make it faster and safer to lodge opt-out applications for European patents and Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs).Key AdvantagesSingle, secure interface: One A2A API suite now handles every opt-out request, replacing the former Public API.Batch or single submission: Use a single call for one patent or script sequential calls to process large portfolios in one run.Built-in validation: Each request is checked automatically and returns either a unique case ID ("UPC_APP_232/2021") or a clear error message.Comprehensive resources: Updated API User Guide (v1.4) and JSON schema files are provided below. How It WorksPrepare your software tool to call the A2A API.For every patent :Supply full patent applicant / proprietor details.Identify and provide status of the person submitting the request (the patent proprietor, acting with a mandate, or acting as a Registered Representative before the UPC)Patent details (and SPC if any)Attach the required documents (application form, mandate, etc.).Queue and send the calls; the CMS responds immediately with status and case number. What’s ChangedThe method of authentication (it uses the OAuth and token instead of API Key)The former Public API for reading the UPC Register has been retired. One Up-to-date register data is now available via the official UPC website.Only opt-out (creation) can be submitted through this new A2A APIs.
